Like the medication called Evista Fosamax used to treat the osteoporosis in women who have attained menopause or steroid induced osteoporosis. It is a medication that can be classified into the group of drugs called bisphosphonates that are said to change the formation of bones in your body and prevent their easy breakage. One very important factor to remember when you are taking Fosamax is that you should not recline or lie down for at least thirty minutes after taking the medication; you have to either sit upright or stand for half an hour failing which you could probably suffer serious problems in the esophagus. This medicine should be taken first thing in the morning with a glass of plain water and you should not chew or suck on the tablet. Do not use mineral water when taking Fosamax. Ensure that you eat something only after thirty minutes after you have taken the medication so that it will be absorbed better into your body.
